Hyundai Santa Fe Dashboard Light Guide

Hyundai Santa Fe

Keeping your vehicle healthy is the only way to ensure your Hyundai Santa Fe will be there to get you in and around Hamburg, Allentown, and Reading, PA, for years to come. However, even though you stay on top of your vehicle’s routine maintenance, sometimes you may see a dashboard light appear.

To help you learn more about some of the most common lights and what they mean, we at Freedom Hyundai have created this Hyundai Santa Fe dashboard light guide. Let’s get started!

What Are Dashboard Lights?

Check Engine Light

Dashboard lights are a way for your Hyundai Santa Fe to communicate with you that something may not be quite right with your SUV. For example, if one or more of your tires is running low on pressure or if your car battery isn’t charging, issues like these are communicated through dashboard lights.

However, not all dashboard lights mean there’s an issue with your Santa Fe. Some lights are there to remind you that a certain feature is enabled.

Let’s take a look at some of the most common lights in both categories!

Hyundai Santa Fe Warning Lights

Since your Hyundai Santa Fe can’t communicate with you to let you know when something isn’t working at 100%, it depends on dashboard lights to indicate a trip to the mechanic is needed. For example, if part of your vehicle’s computer system malfunctions, a light will appear on your dashboard.

The malfunction indicator lamp—which looks like the silhouette of an engine—requires the attention of a technician, since there are multiple sources for the light, like emission control, powertrain, and more.

Some warning lights may not require the immediate assistance of a technician. Lights like low tire pressure—which looks like an exclamation point inside a horseshoe—or the low fuel level warning light—which looks like a gas pump—are things you can resolve on your own.

However, if these lights still appear after filling your tires with air or adding more fuel, the assistance of a technician is required.

Other Dashboard Lights

Turn Signal

Your Hyundai Santa Fe comes with lots of different safety and performance features. Your SUV will let you know when a particular feature is enabled by showing a corresponding dashboard light. Take the Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) indicator light, for example.

This light appears green and looks like a car driving on the road. When you see this, it means your LKA system is operating in good condition and is actively monitoring for accidental lane drifting.

Other types of lights you may see that let you know a feature is enabled include:

  • Turn signal indicator
  • High beam indicator
  • SMART mode indicator
