Humane Pennsylvania is an organization to help those animals in need. This partnership of animal welfare organizations works on adoption, animal shelters, and charitable foundations.

How Humane Pennsylvania Got Its Start

Humane Pennsylvania is a nonprofit founded in 2013 as a merger between two of PA’s sheltering organizations. Since this merger, Humane Pennsylvania has become the region’s largest group of animal welfare organizations. Their main goals are to save animals and help owners be the best caretakers that they can be.

Humane Pennsylvania’s animal welfare and services don’t stop at just dogs and cats. The organization also helps animals like pot-bellied pigs, hamsters, gerbils, horses, and rats. They even help reptiles and birds, too!

Furry Friend Services

Adoption is an important goal for Humane Pennsylvania. To help adopters start life with their new pets, Humane Pennsylvania has several offers to ease the way. The first program is the 30 Day Adoption Health Supplement. This program offers a discounted vet exam and discounted healthcare coverage for the first 30 days after you adopt.

There is also the Free to a Great Home emergency adoption program, which started in 2005. It was created to combat the lack of space during the crowded months of summer by incentivizing the adoption of adult cats. However, this program has expanded to both cats and dogs. If an animal has been up for adoption for eight weeks or more, it could be adopted for no charge.

Adoption fees include the 30-Day Adoption Health Supplement, spaying or neutering, vaccinations, microchips and registration, and a free bag of food for your cat or dog.

Humane Pennsylvania also has a program designed specifically for the people who serve in our military. The Pets for Patriots program pairs service members or veterans with animals most at risk in their shelters. This includes dogs and cats at least two years of age, dogs or cats with disabilities, who have been at the shelter for six months or more, and dogs over 40 pounds.

More Than Just Adoption

More Than Just Adoption Humane Pennsylvania Dog and Cat Humane Pennsylvania offers more than just adoption. If the unthinkable happens, Humane Pennsylvania accepts some animal surrenders. With any surrendered pet, they will attempt to rehome them.

The organization also offers some veterinary services, including an online pharmacy where you can order your pet’s medication and supplies right from their online store. The veterinary hospital will see sick pets and perform essential surgeries, too. The goal is to get your pets the care they need when they need it.

Humane Pennsylvania also offers animal control, stray animal help, and even help with free-roaming and feral cats. Because free-roaming and feral cats have different issues and needs, Humane Pennsylvania created multiple programs. For example, there’s the Bottle Baby Kitten Kit program, feral cat sterilization, and the Alternate Adoption & Placement Program.
